Batteries, (4) 8D Maintenance Free Gell Cells

In order to use space to it's maximum and to alleviate any unnecessary maintenance, I decided to use 4 - 8D gel cell batteries and install them into a space that would have little use otherwise.  Behind the Port side settee, in the Pilothouse, was the original location for wet cell batteries.  They were very difficult to get to, no less top off with water when needed.  Gel Cells were the answer and putting them down below their prior location, opened up the original battery space for usable storage and use space below for the new batteries.

A very HD support base was built into the area, over the port water tank.  Built of 2 layers of 3/4" plywood, expandable foam under and fiberglassed over.
A HD rotomolded 38 gallon holding tank was installed forward of the batteries and plumbed into the forward head with 1.5" pvc.

The entire area was finished with white gel coat.

Lexan covers were installed to prohibit the possibility of anything getting into the battery area.  Battery wiring is all very heavy marine grade 0000 (4/0).
Now, 16 of these Rubbermaid containers plus other items, can fit nicely into the storage space.

The original 3 small drawers were removed to allow top loading of the new storage area.

How's it look?

Joe, Sorry for not finding your question in Comments. Wished you had sent me a personal email. However, you might no longer be interested, but others might.
A broker now has the boat listed and it will be shown at the St. Petersburg, Florida Boat Show, Dec. 4-7th 2014. I will be there too to answer any questions or give detailed explanations for the extensive modifications. Hope to hear from you or see you there. ron
