Zinc application for Anchor and Chain

After 8 years or so of cruising, our new 400' length of galvanized chain is starting to show it's age.  Well, only the first hundred feet of it-that is commonly underwater when anchored.

There was only a slight film of rusty discoloration on the anchor and chain, but I thought it was time for some renewal.  I had purchased 2 cans of spray Zinc but was surprised how far...it did NOT go.

Lowered the 110 lb. Bruce anchor and 100 ft. of chain onto a makeshift platform.  Wire brushed it all, then sprayed the chain starting at the anchor shackles.  The spray did not go far..only covering about 50' of chain, using both cans.

Well, something is better than nothing and at least on deck, all looks good!
