Gator Bites? Tasty treat or hikers fear!

SHELTER BAY

I like my alligator snacks called "gator bites" fried in seasoned bread crumbs but anyway the cook likes to make them is really OK with me.  Great taste treats!  But while walking in the wilds of tropical lands, there is another kind of gator bite and that might put me on the menu.

While returning to Shelter Bay Marina yesterday, with our new APEX inflatable boat (packed inside "Tedly's Tours" large van), we came across a roadside surprise.

You see, quite a number of boaters go for walks around here.  Shelter Bay Marina is actually in a National Park.  Besides health benefits of the walks, the animals and birds are part of the package.  There are howler monkes, spider monkeys, ocelots,  katamundi, toucan's, parrots and well, you get the picture.

What we were not ready for, was this 8' crocodile,  close to the road on the bank of a canal tributary.  He was quite aware and the minute our driver Teddy got out of the van to get a better look, the critter slithered into the water.
